Smarter Transport in Action: SPATRA's Second Newsletter Now Available

The second issue of the SPATRA Newsletter highlights key developments across research, implementation, and knowledge sharing.

New publications explore how satellite Earth Observation data can support railway infrastructure monitoring and how AI models can help estimate rail buckling risks due to heat. These contributions demonstrate the project’s focus on practical, data-driven safety solutions.

The newsletter also covers SPATRA’s role in promoting sustainable transport through the integration of satellite data, AI, and climate adaptation strategies. A major milestone was reached with the first project review meeting in Bremen, where partners presented progress from the first year.

Two webinars are featured, one on IoT applications in road transport and another on satellite-based approaches for improving rail safety. SPATRA has also launched an open-access community on Zenodo to share its research outputs and materials with the wider public.
